East London and Port Elizabeth

Ok, yesterday we left our seaside resort and were in the car driving by 7 am. We knew it was going to be a long drive, there weren't any safe and suitable places to stop on the way. Again the size of the country blows my mind. You can take 3 hours to drive through a single mountain range. There are always little communites of shacks all through the countryside, and always blacks walking along the side of the road. Lots of road works, one sign said ' roadworks for next 180ks'!!!! 'sorry for the inconvenience'!! and it was, you could sit for 30 min waiting for the line of traffic to come through from the other direction. And while waiting women walk past offering pineapples, peaches etc for you to buy.
We arrived at our B&B at 4 pm. I wasn't that impressed with East London, or with our accomodation. Our room was clean and tidy and nicely decorated and only $60NZ which included breakfast, but it was a converted garage so 3.5m x 6, with ensuite. Guess we are being spoilt - you pay just under $100NZ and get something really flash.
This morning we left there at 8 and even with stops (one of which was at some bay that had cool waterways and a guy selling the most amazing wooden animals off the back of the ute, he asked us to help him get a contact in Oz as they are trying to plant a church there, we got his email and will try) we got to our PE accomodation at 1.30.
This place is amazing, choc and biscuits in our room, beautifully set out and decorated, a real helpful guy, a pool, a braai, a cork screw (have been waiting for one for days!), just lovely. We drove down to the waterfront for lunch, lots of people watching - a lot more variety of people around. Lots of people in the water, lucky if its 20degrees. Of course Johan thiks its much warmer than NZ but I saw the sign! Its only 20 in that water! This is the first place we have had a proper internet connection AND proper speed. Making the most of it, we are here for 2 nights.

Off to socialise with my lovely husband now.
