Wedding in Wellington

We had an awesome time last weekend.
On Thursday Johan finished work at midday and I at 12.30. We had packed up the night before so at 1pm we set off to Taupo. We arrived at our motel around 8pm and enjoyed a peaceful night to ourselves with our own mineral pool and a bottle of wine. Friday morning we set off to Wellington. We stopped at Otaki on the way and went looking for some trousers for Johan, all we ended up with was Subway for lunch. We got to Lelanies at about 3.
Jake came round after work and he and lelanie cooked us a beautiful dinner - crayfish starter followed by venison steaks and then a yummy desert. Jake had caught the meat. We had a neat catch up with lelanie and all her plans for their wedding. The next morning we went and met up with Jake and his family and went and had brunch at the venue for the wedding. It was great to see where the reception is going to be. Was also a really special time getting to know lelanie's lovely 'inlaws'. They have been awesome to her and she is treated as one of their own. Louise (Jake's mum) is a brillant organiser and on to it person, we got along just fine ;). Then it was back up north to get ready for Samantha's wedding. The weather was grotty, muggy and very wet.
The wedding was an outside one with no alternative venue. We took Ingrid (mum of the bride, and my good friend) to the venue and sat in the car till the last minute, then it was all out with umbrellas while the vows were quickly said and back into the cars and off to the reception.
The food was fantastic, so nice being waited on at a wedding rather than having to form lines to get your food. We had an awesome time, lots of laughs and memories. We stayed the night with Ingrid and Neil getting to bed at 2am. Haven't been to bed that late for a long time. The next morning it was on the road again up to Mangakino to stay with Sarah, Hamish and the beautiful boys.

With a stop along the way to pretend we were in Holland...

We actually ended up driving in convoy for the last part of the journey because they had been in Foxton picking up a car. We had a short but neat time there. The boys are just yummy. We slept in the container that was so nicely done out. Next morning Bodhi was off to school and we were on our final leg home. First stop was  a catch up with Morgan and Yvette who drove to Tirau to meet us for a coffee and chat. Then stopping in Auckland to pick up some tiles we had bought on trade me. We got home to a yummy curry cooked by Reuben, a tidy house thanks to the girls. A long but great weekend.
