Holiday in the Gold Coast Australia

We had a great time with Sarah, Hamish and the gorgeous boys. They collected us from the airport and we went off on the ferry to the night markets and saw the fake beach with all the lights

The next morning we caught a train then bus to Surfers Paradise. We had a very clean fully equipped apartment in a three storey complex with BBQ and heated pool and an easy walk to the river, the shopping centre and the beach. http://www.buddsbeachapartments.com.au/budds-beach/rooms-facilities.htm
We didn't do any theme park things, but we did go up to Tamborine Mountain (thanks Veronica and Andy for suggesting it) and had a neat day up there in all the botique shops and watching hang gliders go off the side of the mountain. We walked through a rainforext to a lovely little waterfall.

We did the shops and found a few 'bargains', Johan got his yellow shirt that he always looks for, we found the jacket Lelanie wanted and we got the usual tshirts etc for Reubs and I got a few nice bargain price tops.
We hired a car for 2 days one of which we headed south to Burleigh Heads which was lovely with lots of walkers and lots of surfers.
The second day we went up the coast to visit a guy I (Tanya) went to high school with and hadn't seen for 34 years! Then in the evening we went to a fantastic show at the Jupiters casino 'Mother Africa' it was an awesome full of colour, dance , music and acrobatics by people from a variety of different countries in Africa. On Friday Sarah, Hamish and the boys took the day off work and school and came to spend the day with us. We went awimming at the beach, I've swum in warm water before in Fiji and Tonga etc, but swimming in warm waves is different!! We had a great day together.

Saturday we packed up and had a very eventful day catching buses and trains back to Sarah's but we made it in the end... long story. That evening we all went out to Sizzlers and ate more than we shoudl. The Sunday morning it was back home to Reuben and our puppies. He looked after them so well and they had growen so much.
I'll put the rest of the photos on face book and you can click the link on the right side of this page if you want to see more.

haha guess what. I was asking my friend how come her hubby could work as an engineer here on his nz qual without having to have australianised it (she said he hadn't had to, no paperwork, easy) & told her what your friend had told you -

My vague description of what he had told you & what their jobs are made her say "ha! they are related to us! that's hubby's cousin's cousin".

Small world hey?
