We went to Kerikeri. We didn't find tenants. We did mow the lawns and make a go of the garden. We also decided we weren't really ready to part with the property and have decided to take it off the market and put tenants in it until we decide for sure that we'd like to move back sometime in the future. We were both really worried about how we would feel going back to it after all the yuk that happened, but we both felt like we were ' home' when we got there. Most of the people that were interested in renting the property had either responded saying they didn't want it if it was on the market, or the gardens were too much. We got some gardners to come in a quote us a price for maintaining the property and we are just waiting for their prices to come back before we sort out a tenant. We'd prefer not to have someone with lots of children - more wear and tear.
When we went for a wonder down to the river we found two sheep grazing. Johan's old workmate came round to say hi, andsaid he'd take care of the sheep, as we didn't want them chomping through our gardens! He emailed today - all sorted, freezer full and dogs happy (his, not ours)
The previous tenants had made themselves quite at home and had taken out a lot of planting, cleared part of the neighbours land and made use of it. See the photo...
We have yet to contact our agent and let her know we are taking it off, it comes off sole contract at the end of the week anyway.
Well that's about it for this weekend, except that I have wrecked my neck - probably from the weed pulling, I woke up at 4 this morning unable to turn. I have been to physio and at the moment my whole body is aching from trying to protect my neck. It's into the spa for me as soon as Johan gets home.
